Mangaluru, November 5: The mogaveeras protested laying by siege to the police station at Panambur Station demanding to hand over the prime accused Sathish Baikampady in the Gangadhar Pangal case into their custody.
The leader of the Mogaveera community and the congress leader Gangadhar Pangal was murdered on May 24th night near Meenakali at Baikampady by crashing him by a vehicle. During police investigation, it was apparent that the Baikampady brothers were involved in this case. In this regard Bhaskar Baikampady, Harish Baikampady and Bolero driver Pushparaj were taken into custody. The prime accused in this case Sathish Baikampady had absconded who got the anticipatory bail last week and had returned home.
The cops on learning about this had taken the accused Sathish Baikampady into custody for investigation. Meanwhile numerous activists and leaders of Mogaveera association laid a siege to the Panambur Station. Hence tension had prevailed in the venue for some time.
The police commissioner R Hithendra who had arrived at the Panambur station, discussed with the officials and probed the accused Sathish Baikampady. He assured the fishermen leaders that appropriate legal actions would be taken on the culprit.
The protestors withdrew their protest after Sub Inspector Bharathi convinced the mob present at the venue.
