Mangalore, October 28: Bakrid celebration was organised at the Saanidya School for Special Children under the collaboration of Jumeeyatul Falah Mangalore Unit on Monday October 27th.
Khatib Svadakatullah Faizi of Mangalore Central Juma Masjid addressed the gathering and said, “Celebrating festivals does not mean wearing new clothes and enjoying yummy Biryani, but festivals symbolize more important factors such as sanctity of the festival, solidarity of humans, respect for other religions and peaceful co-existence. We must ensure respect, ethical and moral values in our society, only then festivals hold significance and worth enjoying”.
Janab Imtiaz Ahmed Khatib, the head of Jameeatul Falah Mangalore Unit presided over the programme.
He narrated the importance behind celebrating Bakrid and its religious implications. He also spoke about the salient features of Eid Ul Fitr and Eid Ul Adha celebrated by the Muslims and other communities throughout the world. He said, these festivals symbolize the act of humanity, charity and sacrifice. He opined that the festivals should be celebrated peacefully.
Abdurahman recited verses from the Holy Quran. Post this, editor-in-chief of Daijiworld weekly Hemacharya, inaugurated the festival by unveiling a plaque that read ‘Unity in Diversity’ in the presence of administrator of Saanidhya Special School, Vasant Kumar Shetty, Saanidya vice president M B Devdatta Rao, M A S Basheer entrepreneur, general secretary of DK and Udupi unit of Jameetul Falah Nazeer Ahmed, social activist Haji Ahmed Basheer and others.
Awesome cultural performance was also showcased by the special children.
