Mangalore, October 14: The custom officials have seized 1kg of gold from a passenger which was concealed in a safety jacket.
The passenger who travelled by a Jet airways arrived at the MIA on Monday October 13th at 9am from Dubai. The value of the gold is estimated to be 27.1 lakhs.
The passenger is identified as Madapalli Mohammed Ismail, a resident of Napoklu, Madikeri taluk, Kodagu district. He has been arrested and produced before the court. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
Krishna kumar Prasad-Deputy commissioner of customs along with crew of cops led by superintendents H.B. Venkatesh, RS Venkataram, A Panduranga Naik, R G Gaonkar, K Ramakrishnan, K Nirmala and inspectors Subhendu Ranjan Behra, Kamlesh Kumar Meena,Rajesh Jha and HAvaldhar Manjunath took part in this operation.
