Mangalore, October 01: The department of Rural Development and Government of India has chosen Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat as the “Best Zilla Panchayat”.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan will present the award at New Delhi on October 1st. DK ZP President Asha Thimmappa Gowda, Vice President Sathish Kumpala and Standing Committee on Agriculture and Industry President Balakrishna Banajalu will receive the award.
The, ’Best Gandhi Grama Puraskar, Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikarana Abhiyan’ financial assistance and cleanliness award will be presented at Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha on October 2nd at 4.30 pm. Kolnadu, Laila, Thenkamijaru, Golithottu and Sampaje Gram Panchayats have been selected for ‘Gandhi Grama Puraskar.’ The award will carry a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh each. Under Rajeev Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikarana Abhiyan, DK ZP has received Rs 50 lakh and Bannur GP has received Rs 17 lakh.
Laila GP has won Clealiness award, under the divisional-level category. The award carries a cash prize of Rs five lakh. In the State-level, Laila has won second place. The award carries a cash prize of Rs seven lakh.
Belthangady taluk has won first place in the divisional-level award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. The taluk has won second place in the state-level award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh.
