Mangalore, May 09: Addressing the media persons at press meet held at party’s election office on May 08, Wednesday, after the backdrop of election results senior congress leader B.Janardhan Poojary who was a mentor to both party workers and candidates during electioneering, slipped in to the role of party’s conscience keeper by cautioning the elected MLAs against misuse of power.
He strictly advised all the elected MLAs to adhere to the party’s principle of not to abuse power, not to indulge in corruption or illegal activities during the entire five year-term. If MLAs ignore their responsibilities, voters will teach them a befitting lesson in the next election just as they did to the BJP.He urged the MLAs to work for the welfare of the people keeping all this points in mind.
He recollected having iterated that’ voters are masters’ who hold the power to punish those who work against humanity. Because of electorates convincing mandate the congress was able to win and form a government without depending on any party and warned that he will be the first to criticize, if MLAs are involved in anti-people activities, he added.
Poojary was so confident of the outcome that he had advanced the scheduled press briefing on Wednesday afternoon. He said that congress candidate Dr.Raghu’s loss in Sullia to the BJP will not be considered a defeat and U.T.Khader’s win by a margin of nearly 30,000 votes in Mangalore constituency, he even edged out his late father U T Farid’s victory margin and recollected how he too had won by a margin of 32,000 votes during the Lok Sabha elections.
