Mangalore, September 24: A sudden strike outburst at Canara College in Mangalore city on September 23rd wherein the students alleged that one of their lecturers had abused a student using filthy words.
The deceased student is the leader of ABVP association in the College and since the lecturer had abused him in public, the students raged a protest in fury.
The Cops on receiving the information had rushed into the College to provide security in order to avoid untoward incidents from taking place.
Details of the incident:
Protest had been staged on Tuesday in the city, by the ABVP in front of the Police commissioners office alleging that, in social networking sites, awkward pictures of college-going females have been uploaded by miscreants using faque accounts and the association demanded the crime branch Cops to check this since this act; if not checked it leads to defame the female students.
To take part in this protest, the students of Canara College; began to leave their class-rooms.
Meanwhile, HOD of an department arrived there and said that; it will not be possible to permit all the students, hence students from only one class will participate in the protest, he said. One of the students opposed against this and said that “We are opposing the injustice done on the female students. And also threw a question at the HOD that- Supposedly if this injustice happens to your daughter, will you keep mum? ”. The HOD had scolded him for this. By this the students grew in fury and raised their voice against the alleged HOD.
As a result, tension had prevailed in the college for some time.
Immediately the Cops were intimated and even on their arrival; the students continually demanded that the alleged HOD has to ask for an excuse.
The lecturer had asked the students to excuse for his act and hence the matter was closed by a compromise without any plaint being registered.
