Two Inter State thieves held: Valuables worth 9lakhs seized

Mangalore, September 23:  Two notorious inter-state thieves who booked in nearly 15 theft cases in Puttur, Sullia, Mangalore and Kasargod district were held by the Puttur Cops.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday September 23, SP Dr Sharanappa said the arrested are P A Ahmed Kabeer (23) from Chettanchal in Kasargod, and Sajuddin alias Farooq (30) from Mangad, Kasargod.

The accused are involved in four theft cases lodged in Puttur town police station, three in Puttur rural, two in Sullia, one in Kadri police station in Mangalore and four in various police stations of Kasargod district.

The cops have seized gold ornaments weighing 304 grams worth Rs 8.5 lakhs and a bike worth Rs 50,000 from the accused. The stolen cash were already spent – the SP said.

The duo was arrested on Tuesday September 23rd near Arlapadavu under Puttur rural police limits. The police were checking vehicles near Arlapadavu, and on seeing the Cops, the accused who were moving by bike, tried to escape. The police chased the duo and caught them, and on probing, it became transparent that they were inter-state thieves.

SP said that, incidents of thefts have been reported from various places around the district and with a view to tackle the problem, a meeting of the police department was convened headed by DSP and ASP. The Cops are all-set to track the defaulters.

This operation was carried under the direction of SP Dr Sharanappa, additional SP T P Shivakumar, Puttur sub-divisional ACP H D Mendonca, and led by puttur town police inspector Manjayya B K, Puttur rural police sub-inspector Jagadish Reddy R and town police SI Abdul Khader and other police personnels.
