The Jordanian pilot who was burned to death by Islamic State extremists was heavily sedated and was unaware of what was about to happen, according to Daily Mail.

As reported in Saudi Arabia’s burnews.com, the ISIS militants admitted to giving Moaz al-Kasasbeh drugs so that he did not scream while he was set on flames.

Jordan, which has been mounting air raids in Syria as part of the US-led alliance against Islamic State insurgents, would deliver a “strong, earth-shaking and decisive” response, a govt spokesman said.

“The revenge will be as big as the calamity that has hit Jordan,” army spokesman Colonel Mamdouh al Ameri said in a televised statement confirming the death of the pilot, who was seized by Islamic State in December.

The fate of Kasaesbeh, a member of a large tribe that forms the backbone of support for the Hashemite monarchy, has gripped Jordan for weeks and provoked rare protests against King Abdullah over the government’s handling of the crisis.

Jordan expanded its air strikes to Iraq, after the jihadist group released a video online this week showing its militants burning alive Kassasbeh, who was captured when his F-16 fighter jet went down during a mission over Syria.

Jordan has struck back hard following the circulation of the video last week, hitting the militant group’s territory with 56 air strikes in three days and executing two ISIS-linked prisoners.
