The police on Friday arrested a small-time Bollywood actor, Inderkumar Saraf, 40, for allegedly raping and assaulting a 23-year-old woman.
The police said the accused, who is married, had been in a relationship with the victim, a model by profession, for several years.
On Thursday night, he called her to his house at Versova on the western suburbs and raped her. An argument ensued, and he attacked her with a beer bottle, the police said.
“The woman lodged a complaint on Thursday morning. After subjecting the actor to a medical test, he was arrested,” Harishchandra Parmale, senior inspector of Versova police station, told The Hindu.
Saraf will be produced in a local court on Saturday.
