A marketing manager who allegedly had an illicit affair with a compatriot married woman and then threatened to kill her husband if he went to the police, stood trial on Monday.

The Court of First Instance heard the accused, a 48-year-old Indian, and learned that the husband of the woman he allegedly had an affair with, had pictures of them together and an audio recording.

He allegedly threatened to kill the husband if he filed a complaint and produced the proof he had to the police. He denied charges of physical assault and making criminal threats and claimed he did not cause the complainant’s injury as it happened earlier.

The 48-year-old Indian husband, who works as an accountant, said during investigation that the accused came to his workplace in Al Jaddaf around noon on June 20, last year. “He asked me to give him my mobile phone. He then tried to snatch it from my hand and twisted my right arm.”

The accused then allegedly tried to strangle the husband and threatened him. “He told me he would kill me if I handed the photos and the audio recording that proved the illicit relation between him and my wife to the police.” The husband reported him to the Bur Dubai Police Station.
