A two-year-old Arab girl had three of her fingers cut off after her hand was caught in an electric meat mincer at her house in Mudam in Sharjah emirate.
Her mother said she was mincing meat in the kitchen and just turned her back when Malak inserted her left hand into the machine and screamed.
“I rushed towards her and turned the mincer off but her fingers were already caught inside…I pulled her hand out violently and saw that she was bleeding heavily,” the mother told the Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm.
She said she rushed her daughter to a nearby medical centre, which gave her first aid and referred the girl to the hospital in Dhaid, where doctors stopped the bleeding and stitched the cuts in the girl’s hand.
“She was admitted to hospital for a few days but she still feels pain. Doctors told us that she needs prosthetic treatment so she have a normal life and will not feel the finger loss,” she said, adding that her father is considering such treatment.
