Dubai; Nov 01: While Kannada Rajyotsava was being celebrated in pomp back in our motherland, across Karnataka,we,expatriates in Abudhabi too witnessed the same vigour,spirit and heard blaring sound of Kannada trumpet in Karnataka Sangha,Abudhabi.
Under the dynamic leadership of Sarvothama Shetty, president of Karnataka Sangha, Abudhabi, the “Kannada Rajyotsava” was celebrated at India’s social and cultural centre, Meena Road, Abudhabi with great fervor and enthusiasm. This in fact motivated all of us to pay our due respect towards our motherland Karnataka.
Main guest of honour M.K.Lokesh, Indian Ambassador to U.A.E spoke about our contribution in saving and protecting our languages .Besides, along with language we should not forget our motherland’s culture, he said.
The programme was inaugurated by all the eminent personalities on the stage.Padma shree Dr.B.R.Shetty presided over the function.
On the occasion,’Da.Ra.Bendre Prashasti’ was conferred on C.R.Shetty,founder and former president of Karnataka Sangha,Dubai for his outstanding contribution for the language, land and culture. He was also being honored on the occasion.
The farewell ceremony was also held for M.K.Lokesh, Indian Ambassador, who will be proceeding to Switzerland as Indian ambassador. At the same time, mimicry Dayananda, who has entertained the audience in the programme, has also been congratulated. Also Puttur Mookambika cultural academy’s Bhavani Shankar and his wife has also been felicitated on the occasion.
In the programme,Thomas John, Indian social and cultural centre,Siraj Ahmed,Owner of Mangalore Inland builders,Sudheer Kumar Shetty,CEO,U.A.E.Exchange,entrepreneurs Shekar Shetty,Shreekanth Babu, Ronald Pinto, Leo Rodrigues,Ullasraj,Sundar Shetty,Sadandas,Satish Poojary,Girish Shetty,James Mendonca,Sarvothama Shetty,President,Karnataka Sangha,Abudhabi and among other eminent personalities were present in the programme.
Divya Sharma and team performed varieties of Kannada cultural group dances, songs, mimicry and from Bangalore Dayananda different cine stars voices and from Dubai Rohini Ananth team performed ‘Shilabalika’ dance.
The main attraction of the programme was ‘Kavi Kanda Karnataka’and ‘Shiva Tandava Nritya’ dance performance by Puttur Mookambika cultural academy.
On behalf of Abudhabi Karnataka Sangha, the Kannada students who have brilliantly achieved at U.A.E level have been honored on the occasion.
Mangala along with welcoming the gathering also compered the programme.
