Legendary British Band Uriah Heep Visits Gulf Medical University Prior to Dubai Live Show

Legendary British band Uriah Heep formed in 1969, who shared fame with the likes of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple and defined an entire era of rock and heavy metal in the 1970s, visited the Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman – the leading private medical university in the region, on 9th November 2017.

The Band was welcomed at GMU by members of the University Students’ Council and a large number of students. The band had an audience with Mr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder, President Board of Governors of GMU, as well as the Chancellor Prof. Hossam Hamdy. They toured the University campus and met and greeted the students and faculty.

Interacting with the students gathered, the band spoke about life in the music industry and shared experiences from their years touring the globe. The band was visiting the University prior to its first live show in Dubai, at the Secret Garden, Jumeirah Beach Hotel on 10th November 2017. Fifteen lucky students of GMU whose names were drawn in a raffle draw were awarded free tickets to the band’s Dubai show.

Uriah Heep is revered by rock music enthusiasts worldwide for creating their own distinctive progressive metal style of music. They rose to great prominence and enjoyed a huge fan base in their heyday. The band has sold over 40 million albums worldwide and continues to enjoy a great cult following to this day.
