Three-day weekend for government employees

The UAE’s government employees will enjoy a three-day Eid Al Fitr holiday, as announced by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

Subject to the new lunar month of Shawal, if Ramadan concludes on the 29th day, offices will be shut on Thursday August 8, with work resuming on Sunday August 11.

If Ramadan extends to 30 days, work will resume on Monday August 12.

Private sector holidays have yet to be announced.

Eid Al Fitr holiday for federal ministries and entities

UAE federal ministries and entities will be off work from Wednesday 29th of Ramadan until the 3rd of Shawwal on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, to re-start work on the 4th of Shawwal.

This is according to a circular issued by Humaid bin Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Government Human Resources Authority.

The circular is issued as per Cabinet decision No.13/ 2012 in implementation of the federal Law 11/2008.
