Dubai Municipality and du sign MoU to create ‘smart’ parks and beaches.
On the first day of Gitex Technology Week, Dubai Municipality and du signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create ‘smart’ parks and beaches.
“We announced earlier that we would have smart parks, smart beaches and smart public places in Dubai. Now we are introducing wi-fi services in these places,” said Hussain Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality before the agreement was signed.
While public parks and beaches include places like Creek Park, Mamzar Beach, Mushrif Park and Jumeirah Beach Park, public places cover the municipality centres throughout the emirate.
This is the first stage of the project, which may be extended to include other places too, said Lootah.
The introduction of wi-fi was launched simultaneously with the Parks and Beach App, an extensive app providing park and beach visitors with information about public areas, such as weather conditions, distance from location, entrance fee and amenities at the site.
