A Filipino Boeing aircraft technician was killed after falling off the stairs of the B747 plane when he finished maintenance of its engine before take off in Saudi Arabia.
The worker, who has been with the government-owned Saudia Airways, fell right on his head from the portable stairs that was carried by a company truck at the maintenance section at the airport in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah.
Sabq Arabic language daily said the technician was to retire and fly to the United States to join his family after two months.
“The accident occurred on Saturday when the worker fell on his head from the stairs, which sources said was not compatible with safety standards,” it said.
