3 Citizens held for beating expat to death

JEDDAH: Jazan police arrested Sunday three citizens who beat an Arab expatriate to death.

Police were informed by Sebia Hospital about the crime after it receive the deceased expatriate’s body, according to Jazan police spokesman Col. Mohammed Al-Harbi.

“Jazan police started an investigation to identify the people behind this crime and succeeded in arresting three young men who killed the expatriate. The investigation revealed that the victim was handcuffed, taken to a deserted area and beaten to death. Efforts of the police led to the quick arrest of the offenders who participated in perpetrating the crime,” Al-Harbi said.

This incident comes as part of several cases of violence that have taken place in the Jazan region. Seven people died and several others were injured following an attack by a lone gunman on the Education Office in Al-Dair governorate of Jazan.

Following the attack, security was beefed up at Al-Dair General Hospital. A state of emergency was declared as the dead and injured were wheeled into the hospital.
