Sonam Kapoor is currently working on Ram Madhwani’s Neerja, where she plays the braveheart air hostess Neerja Bhanot. After this, reports suggest that the actress will begin shooting the cinematic adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s bestseller, Battle for Bittora in June.

While the actress said in an earlier interview that she was keen on her Khoobsurat co-star Fawad Khan playing the male lead in the film, he was yet to like the role and agree to play it. Word is, that the Pakistani actor has finally agreed to star in the film, which has been pegged as a political drama with a romantic spin.

Though rumours suggested that the project was shelved because Khoobsurat director ad-man Shashanka Ghosh could not crack the script, but it was late revealed that the script has finally been locked. The novel tells the story of a dapper royal who decides to enter politics but is pitted against his childhood sweetheart, who has been forced onto the field by her ambitious grandmother. The story thus explores the power dynamic between these two, as old passions reignite. Sources say that Sonam will be traditionally styled in cotton sarees while Fawad’s look will be similar to that in Khoobsurat.

The producer’s spokesperson confirmed that Fawad will start shooting Shakun Batra’s family drama, Kapoor & Sons in May before moving onto Bittora in June.
