New Delhi: Acknowledged as one of the most talented and finest actress of Bollywood, Rani Mukherjee turned 37 on Saturday. Working in the film industry for over 15 years, Rani made her debut in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997), in which she bagged the Special Jury recognition at the Star Screen Awards.. However, her first screen appearance on big screen was with a cameo for her father’s Bengali film Biyer Phool in 1992.
Rani Mukerjee had tied the nuptial knot with director Aditya Chopra on April 21, 2014. Aditya is son of well known filmmaker late Yash chopra.
Rani has garnered lota of praise for her movie Ghulam opposite Aamir Khan. She was the part of the famous song ‘Aati Kya Khandala’ which was a topper on hit lists.
Between 2002 to 2006 Rani gave some hit films of her career. In these years, the Bengali beauty had delivered hit and blockbuster movies such as Saathiya, Chalte Chalte, Yuva, Hum Tum, Veer-Zaara, Black, Bunty Aur Babli and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. However, Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005) with Aamir Khan flopped at the box office.
In later years, Rani Mukerji featured primarily in movies produced by Yash Raj Films. Many films like Ta Ra Rum Pum and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag under-performed at the box-office and many said her penchant for the Yash Raj banner cost her professionally.
In the last two years, Rani was seen in ‘No One Killed Jessica’ with Vidya Balan, Talaash, with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Aiyaa opposite Malayalam star Prithviraj and Mardaani.
Kajol and Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani fame director Ayan Mukherji are the two notable cousins of Rani in the film industry.
