Mumbai: Producers Yash Raj Films and theatre Maratha Mandir, which had decided to pull down ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayeinge’ after its historic run of 1009 weeks, have mutually decided to continue screening the movie for the sake of its fans.

The Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer film’s last show was supposed to be on February 19 but the Maratha Mandir management was flooded with requests to reinstate the movie based on which they decided to reconsider their decision. “We are very happy to announce that Raj & Simran will continue to draw audiences and reinforce the timeless romance the movie has embodied over the last two decades,” Yash Raj Films confirmed in a statement.

“The sudden announcement of ‘DDLJ’ being pulled out from Maratha Mandir at the end of 1009 unprecedented weeks, resulted in a spontaneous and an overwhelming outcry from the cinema going audience, as well as dedicated fans of the movie. Given this, it has been mutually decided to continue the screening in the same 11:30 AM morning show – without breaking the uninterrupted run of the movie,” the production company added.

‘DDLJ’ was released on October 19, 1995. The cult romantic film, which marked the directorial debut of Aditya Chopra, completed its 1000 weeks in December last year. Shah Rukh and Kajol had got together at Yash Raj Films studio on the occasion to relive many moments of the film, which catapulted them to the star status.
