The first trailer of Freida Pinto’s ‘Desert Dancer’ is out

Indian-origin Hollywood actress Freida Pinto-starrer ‘Desert Dancer’ has unveiled its first trailer.

Freida Pinto new upcoming movie ‘Desert Dancer’ centers on a real-life dancer Afshin Ghaffarian (played by Reece Ritchie). The trailer sees Pinto and her friends practicing choreographed dance moves in suppressed society while risking their lives, media reported.

According to Indian media reports, the movie first shows him as a kid who gets punished at school for dancing in class. Afshin’s passion however does not die. He learns dancing from videos of Michael Jackson, Gene Kelly and Rudolf Nureyev, and later creates his own dance company alongside some friends, including Pinto’s Elaheh.

‘Desert Dancer’ tells the true story of a self-taught dancer pursuing a dream in a suppressed society. Reportedly, ‘Desert Dancer’ isn’t just a dance movie. It’s about fighting what you believe in, and doing what you’re passionate about, whether or not the majority stands with you.

The film, directed by Richard Raymond, will open in select theatres in the US on April 10 before going worldwide on April 17.
