Bangaluru: Challenging Star Darshan has been ruling the Kannada film industry for a while now. In what has come as good news for the actor and the Kannada film industry on the whole, Darshan’s upcoming film, Ambareesha, has collected Rs 21crore — even before it has released.
Ambareesha is one of the most awaited movies of the year. The year 2014 hasn’t seen many blockbusters and Darshan’s movie is set to break that drought. The movie has been delayed for some time now, but it looks all set to release later this month.
Such is the expectation from the movie that the satellite rights were sold for a record-breaking Rs 5.5 crore. The distribution rights from the Bengaluru-Tumakkuru circle were sold for Rs 7.5 crore, from the Mysuru-Mandya-Hassan circle for Rs 4 crore, from the Mumbai-Karnataka circle for Rs 3 crore, and from the Hyderabad-Karnataka circle for Rs 1 crore. This makes it a total of Rs 21 crore. Way to go, Darshan!
