At least so it seems from the allegations levelled by those in the know of things, who claim that there is tremendous pressure on authorities to release the actress from the remand home at the earliest so as to ensure that she does not `spill the beans’.

Even Sandalwood was rocked by a sex scandal after several producers and directors were caught on camera asking for sex from aspiring actresses in exchange of acting roles.

“Clearly , the people involved in this `business’ are extremely influential. They are worried that if she is in the remand home for too long, out of their reach, she might reveal their names and put them in trouble. If she is outside, they may be able to prevail upon her to keep mum,” said a source describing it as a precarious situation that the 23-year-old is presently trapped in.

The national award winning artiste was caught in a prostitution racket last month from a top five star hotel and subsequently sent to a rehabilitation home for a three-month term. While the actress confessed to her involvement in the `trade’, attributing it to certain monetary compulsions, Shweta refrained from disclosing the identity of her highprofile clients or handlers. While some claimed that it was a powerful syndicate from within Tollywood that did her in, their accusations could not be verified.

“But even then, the fact that she has been sent to a home only for a few months confirms that some people do not want her to stay guarded for too long,” insisted the well-informed source, citing Section 17 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, which directs such `victims’ to be rehabilitated for a period of not less than one year.
