Mangaluru, September 26: The Netravati Rakshana Samiti organized a meeting on Yettinahole project with the leaders of various organizations and decided that unscientific, useless Yettinahole project should be stopped and alternative measures should be adopted to address the water scarcity in Kolar district. Government should withdraw the affidavit given to green bench court, the meeting scheduled to be held in Bengaluru ought to be met in Mangaluru. In case, the government fails to fulfil the above demands along with various other demands, let it be ready to face the historical Karavali Protest, decided the leaders.
Addressing the gathered, NITK professor S G Maiah said, a plot is taking place to mislead the protest against Yettinahole project by announcing the westflowing project. Scientific study has not taken place on Yettinahole project. Whether the westflowing project is implemented or not, we should not leave our rights for our water, he said.
The DPR prepared on the Yettinahole project is awful. It is dismaying that the government has accepted such DPR. The people are mislead by claiming that the overflowing and flooded water in River Netravati in rainy season is used for the project. They are not ready to say that this project is related to the water of River Netravati. But the Yettinahole Project is beginning at the birth place of river Netravati. River Netravati in various places, has various names, by misusing these names, they are depicting it as Yettinahole project, he said.
In the meeting, MCC Mayor Purushottama Chitrapura, organizer M G Hegde, P V Mohan, leaders of various associations Maladi Ajith Kumar Rai, Mohandas, Prabhakar Bangera, Keshava, Raghuveer, Lancy, Vasudeva Bolur, M Devdas, Sadashiva Padubidre, G K Bhat, Dr H M Vasan, Rev Fr J C Crasta, Rajeev Anchan, Prashanta Jattanna, K Umesh Rai, Mohan Bengare, Kamalaksha Bajal, Hameed Kudroli, Mohammed Haneef, Prashant Shetty, D M Kulal, along with other leaders of various associations expressed their support for the protest against the Yettinahole project.
