Mangaluru, September 8: “Onam Festival” was celebrated at the premises of Karavali College in Kottara Chowki here by Karavali Group of Institutions here on Monday, September 7th.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the event in a traditional way by lighting a lamp. Addressing the gathering later he said, the great work of preserving the culture and heritage which lies behind all the celebrations have to be done by us. By achieving this, India must become an example to the world. India is a land of many traditions and language. Responsibility of preserving this heritage lies on us, he said.
India is the prayer room of the universe. Kerala is the prayer room of India. It is laudable that attempts learn about Kerala culture is going on to in Karavali College. Kerala has given unique contributions to the field of Ayurveda, Astrology and Yoga.
S Ganesh Rao, Founder Chairman of Karavali Group of Institutions presided over the program. Speaking on this occasion he said, we have seen god in nature. By celebrating Onam which is the famous festival of Kerala State, the work of upholding the feeling of being Indian is being done through our college, said Ganesh Rao.
Lata G Rao-director of Karavali Group of Institutions participated as the chief guest. Anisha Khateeja- syndicate member of Rajeev Gandhi Health Science University, Abhilash were the chief guests on this occasion.

Colourful “Aatta Pookalam” intercollegiate competition was held in the morning.
Prior to the program, procession with the dignitaries comprising of Mohini Attam, Tiruvadira, Kathakkali, and people dressed in Kerala traditional attires; was taken from Urva store, passed through Kottaa Chowki, and Kodikal cross.
Post this, Kalaripait, Chende play, Mohini Attam, Puli Kali, Maveli, Oppna, Onam Paat, Nadan Paat, Nadan Kala and other special cultural programs were exhibited.
