Sullia, July 31: The police have successfully cracked the missing and murder case of Jayananada Gowda from Kutkunja village near Panja in the taluk. Sullia Police have arrested all the accused on Wednesday.
Jayananada Gowda was murdered by his wife’s paramour Dhananjaya from Nekkila in Karumbu, and his accomplices Chandrakanth, Dinesh from Kaimana in Majaladka, and Chintan from Koppa Charvaka, informed the police sources.
Jayananda Gowda on July 14th had left his home on a bike. He had phoned his brother Vishwanatha who stays at Kaniyur and informed him that he would visit an astrologer in Kovvethodi. But later he neither visited his brother nor returned home and went missing.
On July 16th Jayananda’s wife lodged a complaint in this regard with the Subramanya police. His mysterious missing aroused many suspicions. His bike was later found in Nettar near Bellare which was seized by the police.
Jayananda used to ride alone to his home daily in the night. The accused, who knew this, followed Jayananda in a Jeep while he was riding his bike to home in the night a month before this incident and had collided to the Jeep at the rear end of his bike and had sped away. Jayananda suffered minor injuries in the accident. He did not complaint this to the police.
The police who undertook investigations after learning that the Dhananjay from Nekkila was driving the Jeep, began to search for him. Prior to this, his accomplice Chandrakanth was taken into custody.
On the evening of Wednesday, Dhananjay who was near the Milk society in Panja on seeing the police jeep had escaped from the spot. Later he was arrested. During investigations the accused had confessed that Jayannada was murdered by them, being provoked by Jayannada’s wife Lalitha, informed the police.
As per the details available, Dhananjay was in love with Leela and had an illicit relationship with her. Jayananda who knew this objected to it. But the affair did not stop.
Accomplices of Chandrakanth, Chintan, resident of Charvaka Koppa, Majaladka Dinesh from Kaimana village and Lalitha were arrested by the police. These five accused were taken to the crime spot for investigations.
The accused were produced before the Court in Sullia who were remanded under two days of police custody.
Directed by Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police Dr S D Sharanappa, ASP Vincen, and DySP Bhasakr Rai; Sullia Circle Inspector B S Satish, staff Krishnaiah, Madhava, Devaraj, Balakrishna, Santhosh Nayak, Ashok, Yogitha, Yajna Narayana, Chandappa, Chandrashekar, Saraswathi, Sandyamani, Satish, Lakshmish, and computer department staffs Prashanth, Sampath, Home guards staff Gafur participated in the arrest operation.
