Bantwal, May 28: Tension prevailed near the KSRTC bus depot at Ponnodi near Kaikamba, BC Road here, after a verbal exchange between a KSRTC bus driver and a driver of a car had snowballed into a fight on the evening of Wednesday May 27th.
A local named Azeez, was allegedly assaulted in the incident that took place in front of KSRTC bus depot.
According to the sources, Azeez while he was driving his car had accidentally blocked the way while a KSRTC bus was entering into the KSRTC depot. A verbal exchange took place between the drivers of both the vehicles which gradually turned into a fight.
The bus driver got out of his vehicle and allegedly abused and assaulted the car driver Azeez. Meanwhile, some employees of the KSRTC depot reached the spot and allegedly joined the bus driver in assaulting Azeez, it is said.
It is learnt, soon after the assault as the news spread, a group of youngsters entered into the depot, expressed anger at the officials and even tried to assault them.
The Bantwal police who rushed to the spot brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, Bantwal councillor Mohammed Shareef alleged that some employees at the KSRTC depot get drunken daily night and abuse the people. He urged the KSRTC authorities to take strict action against such employees.
Additional security has been deployed at BC Road bus stand, Shantiangady and Kaikamba to avoid untoward incidents from taking place.
