Mumbai Vasai-body

Police suspect the boy was killed after he got his girlfriend to elope with him to Mumbai, from her hometown Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh

A 15-year-old student was found murdered near Vasai fort on Sunday. Locals found the body in a highly decomposed state in the afternoon, after which they called the local Valiv police. Cops suspect the boy was killed after he got a girl to elope with him to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, a local watchman discovered the dead boy. Since the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, police performed an on-the-spot autopsy and buried the body at the spot, after taking requisite permissions from the local municipal corporation.

After this, the Valiv police received an alert from the Kurla Government Railway Police (GRP) that a teenager named Abhishek Yadav had been missing for more than a week. Valiv police asked the family to come and identify the belongings of their identified body, and their parents immediately recognised their boy’s belongings. Police then exhumed the boy’s corpse and handed it over to the family yesterday.

“After we showed the deceased’s belongings to his parents, they identified him, following which the case was transferred to the Kurla GRP where the missing complaint was initially registered,” said Arun Phegade, assistant police inspector at Valiv police station.

Honour killing?
Preliminary investigations revealed that Yadav was killed with a sharp weapon, as there were marks on his chest. The Valiv police then registered a murder case and suspect that it may be a case of parents objecting to a relationship.

An officer from the police station said, “Abhishek was in Std X and used to love a girl name Rani (name changed). His parents didn’t agree to the relationship.

Two weeks ago, Abhishek and Rani ran away and came to Mumbai. A friend last saw him with Rani at Kurla station. Since then, he has been missing and his family complained to the Kurla railway police.”

However, his parents alleged that the girl’s family had murdered their boy, as they refused to accept the relationship. They told police that they even tried to kill the girl their own daughter but she managed to escape.

Police sub-inspector Mali of the Kurla GRP, who is the investigating officer in the case, has gone to Varanasi the girl’s hometown along with his team to question the family. The girl is nowhere to be found.
