A day after the brutal murder of 56-year-old Sangeeta Sawant, the police have detained a ragpicker Guddu Sawant and think that the entire incident could be planned. Twenty-four hours after the murder of Sangeeta Sawant (56), in Bhandup’s Amardep Apartments the police made the first breakthrough in the case when they found a pair of gloves that they believe was worn by the killer.
Following the blood marks, the police also doubt that the murder might have happened in the living room. They suspect that the body, could have been placed in the bedroom later. Further investigations also suggested that there could be more than one person involved in the act.
The incident took place on Friday when Sawant’s body was found in a pool of blood by her son, Shyamal Sawant who later filed a complaint at the Kanjurmarg Police station. As there were no CCTV attached in the building, the killer could not be tracked.
“The value of the amount missing or even the cash is still not known as the daughter and the son of the victim are not in the right frame of mind to discuss about the issue,” said an officer from Kanjurmarg police station. Though several people have been detained by the police officials for further enquiry, local rag picker, Guddu Gupta was among the first one to be held.
The unidentified accused has been booked under sections 302, 397 (robbery or dacoity, with attempt to cause death) and 452 (house — trespass alter preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful) of the Indian Penal code.
