Mumbai, November 6:  Himanshu Roy, JCP (Crime) of the Mumbai police on Wednesday deposed before the Supreme Court-appointed Mukul Mudgal committee investigating the IPL betting case.

The probe committee is headed by Mukul Mudgal, former chief justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Additional Solicitor-General L. Nageshwar Rao and senior counsel Nilay Dutta.

“We had a meeting with the SC-appointed IPL probe panel. We have made a presentation and submitted the evidence. There is a possibility of another meeting in the near future,” Mr. Roy told reporters.

The apex court had directed the committee to probe the allegations of betting and spot-fixing in season 6 of the IPL against Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI president N. Srinivasan, the owner of Rajasthan Royals and the players booked in the case.

Sources in the Mumbai Crime Branch told The Hindu that they will produce all the evidence against Mr. Meiyyapan, including transcripts of conversations between Mr. Meiyyapan and actor Vindoo Dara Singh, statements of the accused and that of the witnesses.

In September, the police had submitted 11600-page chargesheet against Mr. Meiyyapan and others finding them guilty of betting. A report and a copy of the chargesheet will be submitted to the probe panel, they said.
