Mumbai: Rakesh Maria has been appointed as Director General (DG) Home Guards and DG Civil Defence while Ahmed Javed will be taking over as the Mumbai Commissioner of Police in his place.
Maria will hand over the charge on Tuesday itself and Javed will be taking over with immediate effect.
This order comes in when Rakesh Maria has been personally monitoring the investigation into the sensational Sheena Bora murder case. However, reports suggest his promotion has nothing to do with his involvement in the investigation of any particular case.
“Rakesh Maria has been promoted to DG of Home Guards with immediate effect. The 1980 batch Ahmed Javed will be the new commissioner of Mumbai police,” Home secretary Maharshtra KB Bakshi told a news channel.
