It is unfortunate that some teachers exploit students: Siddaramaiah

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, at a function to distribute State awards to over 52 teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day here on Friday, said an order had been issued and a circular sent out to all schools — government and private — that they would be held responsible if a child is sexually assaulted while at school. It is unfortunate that some teachers exploit students, he said. He recalled his own school days, when one of his teachers used to ask him to bring cigarettes to school. He said if teachers ask students to bring cigarettes or beedis, how can they teach morals to students? The government may have to take stern action if teachers indulge in such activities, he reiterated.
