Take Rs. 30,000, valuables from the residents of ITI Colony

Narayana Murthy (59) and his wife Nagarathna (55) were fast asleep at their home in ITI Colony in Dooravani Nagar when they were awakened by a noise around 4 a.m. on Wednesday. It was then they realised that dacoits had broken into their house. When Mr. Murthy tried raising an alarm, he was tied up along with his wife and gagged. The gang of four made away with Rs. 30,000, along with some gold and silver valuables. The retired employee of ITI and his wife managed to loosen the ropes and alert neighbours. Later, they filed a complaint with the K.R. Puram police.

The couple were taken to a hospital. Police registered a case of dacoity and are trying to trace the gang members.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the four dacoits had covered their faces with handkerchiefs and were conversing in Hindi.

It appeared that the four men had broken into the house through the back door and had gone to different parts of the house in search of valuables. Police suspect that the culprits were familiar with the layout of the house. According to the police, the elderly couple were scheduled to move out of the house later on Wednesday.
