An eight-year-old boy who was kidnapped on Sunday was found near a lake on Monday.

Tejas, son of a realtor, Nagaraj, in Manchenahalli was allegedly kidnapped by a gang while he was playing in front of his house. The family received a call from the kidnappers, seeking a ransom of Rs. 50 lakh and warning them not to inform the police.

The family, however, alerted the police following which the Hoskote police formed a special squad to conduct combing operations. They also set up barricades to search vehicles on the city’s outskirts.

Fearing that they would be caught, the kidnappers abandoned the boy near Byappanahalli lake. Meanwhile, some passersby, who noticed the boy crying, took him to the police station. The police reunited Tejas with his parents.

“We obtained a few clues based on the information provided by Tejas and we are trying to track down the kidnappers,” a senior police officer said.
