In yet another shocking case of sexual assault in the city, a 20-year-old employee of a private firm was allegedly abducted and raped by her friend and four of his friends after being forcibly made to consume liquor and smoke marijuana on Saturday in K.G. Halli.
The incident allegedly took place on Saturday night when the woman was returning home from her workplace. According to the complainant, her friend, Prabhu, had asked her to meet him near K.G. Halli Railway Gate in Shampura.
Around 9 p.m., the woman met him. His friends came in an autorickshaw and asked her to get in. They later went to a building for a party.
While the victim was not able to tell the police where exactly the building was located, she said that the accused forced her to consume alcohol and smoke marijuana before raping her.
On Sunday around 6 a.m., the men took the woman in an auto and dropped her outside her house in J.C. Nagar police limits. Noticing that she was not well, her parents took her to a doctor who confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted. The woman and her parents filed a complaint at the J.C. Nagar police station on Sunday afternoon.
Quoting from the complaint, Joint Commissioner (West) S. Ravi said that she had met one of the suspects for the first time on Friday and had become friends. He later called her to meet him over dinner and she obliged.
The official said that three persons had been picked up based on the complaint and had been detained for questioning. “There have been no arrests so far. We are questioning the suspects and will verify their version as well,” he said.
They are also probing whether the woman was abducted by the suspects before being taken to the party.
