The 30-year-old man, whose body was found in a drain off Ring Road on May 7, was murdered at the behest of his siblings, investigations by the Kamakshipalya police have revealed. They have arrested nine persons, including his sister. Two more suspects, including his brother, are absconding.

Police said that a dispute over property owned by the deceased, Sadiq Pasha, had led to differences among the siblings. Pasha’s in-laws had also transferred some property to him. Siblings Khader and Ishrat allegedly plotted his murder to acquire the property. According to the police, Pasha had been booked for assaulting his siblings in 2008 by Bharatinagar police.

Investigations revealed that Khader and Ishrat, along with Jabeer Ahmed, offered Rs. four lakh to Mohammed Zameer to commit the crime. Zameer, along with some associates, murdered Pasha and dumped the body in a drain, police said.

Ishrat spilled the beans during questioning. The police arrested Ishrat (37), Jabeer Ahmed (27), Mohammed Zameer (37) and six others.

Gandhinagar murder
The West Division police have cracked the murder of a 36-year-old man on April 4 whose body was found in a narrow alley facing the well-known Movieland theatre in Gandhinagar. Two persons have been arrested.

The victim, Hanumantha Kattimani, was making a living by screening films for school children at a reduced cost. His body was found with a wire around his neck in the building where he resided.

The accused — Prasad (20) and Chandan Aaradhya (21) — had been assisting the victim for three years. However, they fell out with him six months ago and allegedly plotted his murder for financial gain. The duo had gone to the building a little past midnight and allegedly murdered Kattimani, said the Upparpet police. The two other occupants of the building had gone out at that time, the police added. A mobile phone worth Rs. 53,000 was found on the arrested men.
