Bangalore: Nandan Nilekani, who has jumped into electoral politics being the Congress candidate for Bangalore South, had former chief minister S M Krishna for company on Saturday during his campaign trail with the duo putting forth development of Bangalore as their unique selling proposition.
The roadshow began with Krishna and Nilekani offering prayers at Gavigangadeshwara Swami temple. The entourage later passed through main roads of Basavanagudi, Lakshimipura, Srinagara, Padmanabhanagar, Hesaraghatta main road among others.”
Elsewhere, Ananth Kumar campaigned from dawn to dusk holding meeting with Malayalee and Vodaya Samaj representatives, holding padayatra in Bommanahalli and attending Ramanavami programme at Fort High school.
Kumar, is confident that ‘Modi wave,’ organisational network and his personal goodwill will help him retain the seat. Taking time off from the campaign, in his interaction with this newspaper, he said, “These three factors are sufficient for me to win. In addition, the people do not want the Congress to continue,” he added.
BJP candidate for Bangalore North D V Sadananda Gowda started his day at 6:30 am meeting joggers in Byataranapura. He held election rallies at R T Nagar, HMT playground and Sanjaynagar. BJP candidate for Bangalore Central P C Mohan campaigned in Mahadevapura.
JD(S) candidate for Bangalore South Ruth Manorama organised a meeting on “Why women should enter mainstream politics” at the party office. JD(S) leaders, party workers and women leaders from various civil society organisations participated in the meeting.
Manorama sought that a special fund for the political empowerment of women be set up that will provide women with adequate opportunities to participate in active politics by funding their work and campaign.
