BANGALORE: A 25-year-old homemaker was found hanging inside her Gokula Layout house in KR Puram, East Bangalore, on Thursday noon.
Jyothi Nagaraj tied the knot with private company employee Nagaraj Prakash 18 months ago. She was a native of Davanagere. Police suspect the incident happened between 11.30am and 1pm, said KR Puram police. Jyothi’s mother-in-law Vimala Prakash told police her son Nagaraj was asleep in another room when Jyothi hanged herself from the ceiling fan using a sari.
“It is hard to believe that her husband was fast asleep in the other room. We are waiting for the autopsy report to confirm whether it is a suicide case or if foul play is involved,” police said.
Jyothi’s father Mohan S Pattar on Friday filed a police complaint accusing his son-in-law and his parents of dowry harassment that allegedly led to his daughter’s death.
