MYSORE: The Congress president Sonia Gandhi took on the BHP saying the saffron party is promoting politics of hatred in the nation and pointed at the case against Amit Shah in Uttar Pradesh.
Calling the BJP as seeking votes for a single person, who, she said, doesn’t believe in democratic principle, Sonia said, “The BJP’s only agenda is communalism. We’ve an example in Uttar Pradesh.” Without naming Amit Shah, she said the BJP leader is trying to promote politics of hatred.
Laying out her party’s principles, which she said is to promote India’s plurality, Sonia focused on communalism and positioned Congress as promoter of secularism. “We believe in democracy and secularism. We see everybody equally without regard for caste or religion. The BJP is seeking support from the people for a single person and is trying to polarize people,” she said addressing a multitude of people at the election rally in the CM Siddaramaiah’s hometown. “2014 polls are important in that it will shape India’s destiny. We are for democratic principles and open society,” she stated.
According to her, the Congress is fighting corruption and debunked the BJP’s assertion that the saffron party is focusing on corruption. They will say we are fighting corruption when in fact it is the Congress that is fighting the malaise.
She lauded Siddaramaiah saying he is focusing on growth of the state. Along with the KPCC chief G Parameshwara, he is putting Karnataka on the track of development, she said.
