Tractor mows down child in front of his house

A two-and-a-half-year-old child, who was playing with his elder brother in front of his house, was killed on the spot after a tractor mowed him down at Vittasandra in Electronics City traffic police limits on Thursday evening.

Keerthi Raj, the second son of an autorickshaw driver, Sampangi and Tulasi, was playing with his elder brother Kiran Kumar in front of his house. Driver of the fertiliser-laden tractor that was proceeding towards Electronics City, lost control over the vehicle when he approached Raj’s house and hit the boy.

He abandoned the truck on the spot and fled, said the police. They are on the lookout for the driver.

Crushed between trucks

In another accident in Yeshwantpura traffic police limits on Thursday night, a truck driver with a cargo service provider was killed as he was sandwiched between two vehicles at the truck terminal of a private cargo company.

Rajesh, 28, was standing at the KGS truck terminal, when the accident took place.

The driver of another truck failed to notice Rajesh and drove the vehicle in reverse direction. The truck rammed Rajesh who was crushed between the two trucks and was killed on the spot, said the police.

Shakti Velu, the driver of the truck, has been arrested.

Two mowed down

Two men executing a BSNL project were killed on the spot, while another was injured when a car mowed them down near Devanahalli on early Friday morning. The victims were identified as Thimma Bovi, 45, and Mehaboob Basha, 35, while the injured Ramesh, is recovering at a hospital.

Bovi, Basha and Ramesh, all from Davangere district, were digging a trench to lay a cable at around 7.30 am at Boodigere on Devanahalli Road, when the car speeding towards Devanahalli, hit them as the driver lost control over the vehicle. Bovi and Basha were killed on the spot, while Ramesh was injured.­
