A vintage car rally was organised here in the city on Sunday morning to raise awareness about glaucoma in view of the World Glaucoma Week, observed in the second week of March every year.

Glaucoma, referred to as ‘the silent thief of sight,’ causes progressive loss of vision and could also result in blindness unless treated. About 90 per cent of people with glaucoma in India are undiagnosed, according to statistics shared by the Nethradama Hospital.

The rally, organised by the Nethradhama Super Speciality Eye Hospital in association with Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club, saw a participation of 175 people in the event.

A rally of these vintage beauties was flagged off by Kannada Film actor Pooja Gandhi at the hospital around 9.30 am and covered various areas in South Bangalore before concluding around 11 am. Many held banners and placards pertaining to glaucoma to raise awareness.
