6lkThe Karnataka High Court has directed Puravankara Projects Ltd. not to aerially encroach upon land belonging to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) laboratories while putting up its 16-storeyed apartment complex.

Justice L. Narayanaswamy passed the interim order while hearing a petition filed by the Union government through DRDO, an arm of the Defence Ministry. DRDO had made an application alleging that Puravankara is using huge cranes, which are aerially encroaching upon its Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CIAR) campus at C.V. Raman Nagar. The petition alleged that the State government and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) failed to consider their objections to grant of permission for the multi-storeyed apartment complex adjacent to CIAR.

The counsel for Puravankara denied the allegation and claimed that the photographs produced in court by DRDO were clicked in such a manner so as to show that the cranes had aerially encroached upon its campus.
