Bangalore, April 15, 2013, DHNS:

A 19-year-old college student died under mysterious circumstances at the Air Force Command Hospital on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Divya Sharma, a resident of Akash Vihar, Mallattahalli.

In a statement to police, Sharma’s mother, Kamesh, said that her daughter complained of stomach ache on Friday night. When the pain worsened, Sharma was rushed to the Air Force Command Hospital, but passed away later that night.

Considering the peculiar nature of the case, police believe that Sharma committed suicide. Although an autopsy was conducted at Bowring Hospital on Saturday evening, the postmortem report is not yet ready.

“Only the postmortem report can throw more light on the exact cause of death,” said a senior police official of the sub-division. He added that the viscera has been sent to a laboratory for additional toxicological and histo-pathological tests.

HAL Police have registered a case of suspicious death and are investigating.

The family is originally from West Bengal. Police said that Divya was a student of a City college and was living with her mother. Her father, Y K Sharma is an air force warrant officer currently posted in Guwahati, Assam.
