BANGALORE, December 31, 2013: While scores of hotels and restaurants in the city are gearing up for parties to ring in the New Year, several people are planning to usher in 2014 at their homes and farmhouses.
Abhilash Chandar (22), a student, who is planning to host a potluck party at his house said, “Most of the parties hosted by hotels are expensive and end very early. Having a potluck party is economical and the party will have no deadline and end when we want it to.”
Besides home parties, several Bangaloreans are also planning farmhouse parties on the outskirts of the city. With temperatures dipping during December, bonfire parties seem to be a big hit this season. Sagar Puranik, an actor who is hosting a private party along with two friends at a farmhouse on Bannerghatta road, said they would recreate all that “professional parties” have. He said there would be a dance floor, DJ, lights and a bonfire at the party. “We will be charging around Rs. 2,000 per head, which is cheaper than what hotels charge and will be hosting a personalised party with unlimited food and liquor.”
Speaking about the advantages of hosting a farm house party, he said as most parties end soon after midnight, people prefer house parties. “As most of the people are either working or have college on December 31, the party will begin late and will probably go on till early morning,” he said.
