Bangalore, December 19:  A 28-year-old woman attempted to end her life by allegedly consuming sleeping pills in front of the residence of Kannada actor Murali here in Manyata Layout on Thursday.

The woman, Pavithra, employed with an MNC, reportedly claimed she was in love with the actor and stood in front of his residence and threatened to end her life.

The Sampigehalli police said that Pavitra, a resident of Sunkadakatte, had gone to office on Thursday and had gone downstairs informing her colleagues that she was going to have some coffee.

Instead, she consumed the pills and went to the actor’s house where she asked him to respond and threatened to end her life. According to the police, Pavithra claimed that she had known the actor and had even spent time with him.

Local residents, who heard her threats, informed the police, who rushed to the spot and took her to hospital. She is said to be in a stable condition. The police claimed that Pavithra’s father had mentioned about two more suicide attempts her in the past.

Claims denied

However, the actor denied the woman’s claims and said he did not know her.

“I got many messages from the woman, but I had ignored it as I receive many unwanted messages. While I got worried on receiving messages saying she would end her life, I never imagined she would come to my house and actually attempt it. I do not know her and don’t know why she is doing this,” he stated.

When asked why he did not file a police complaint, Mr. Murali said that he did not want to ruin her life by filing a complaint. “She would interact with me at a personal level and try to talk about my family members as her own. I tried explaining to her not to talk in such a manner but she did not stop,” he added.

Though no complaint has filed with the Sampigehalli police in connection with the case, the woman was made to give a written statement to them saying she would not repeat such acts.
