MYSORE, December 15: Members of Adarsha, a wing of Ashodaya Samithi, a community-based organisation comprising female, male and transgender sex workers, staged a protest here on Saturday to oppose the Supreme Court’s ruling setting aside the 2009 Delhi High Court judgment that decriminalised gay sex under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.
In a press release here, the samiti said representatives from Asha Kirana, GUARD, Karnataka Sexual Minority Forum, students of Department of Social Work, University of Mysore, and members of the transgender community from Mysore, Mandya, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar took part in the protest.
Expressing shock over the verdict, the protesters demanded an amendment to Section 377.
