Bangalore, Dec 10, 2013, DHNS: A newly married man allegedly killed his wife’s paramour at Channakeshavanagar in the Parappana Agrahara police station limits on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sateesh, 26, a mechanic and a resident of Channakeshavanagar. He allegedly had an affair with Rukminiamma, 20, of Maralawadi village near Kanakapura. She and her husband Shamaraj, 29, were injured in the scuffle, the police said.

Rukminamma had married Shamaraj, who is employed as a supervisor at a garment factory. The couple are residents of Channakeshavanagar. According to police, Rukminiamma was in love with Sateesh.

Sateesh’s family objected to the marriage, as they were from different castes and Sateesh had married a woman chosen by his family, four months ago. “However, Sateesh continued his affair with Rukminiamma, even after her wedding,” police said.

According to police, Rukminiamma pretended to be unwell on Tuesday morning and asked her husband to get her food from a nearby restaurant. When Shamaraj returned home, he sensed that someone else was in the one-room tenement and found Sateesh hiding under the cot.

The two men reportedly fought and Shamaraj allegedly hit Sateesh on the head with an iron rod, causing his death. Shamaraj also suffered a head injury and Rukminiamma suffered a knife injury in the throat.

B S Shantha Kumar, ACP, Madiwala sub-division, told Deccan Herald that Shamaraj had slit his wife’s throat in an attempt to kill her. “A murder case has been booked against him,” Kumar said.

Shamaraj and Rukminiamma have been admitted to a private hospital and are out of danger.

According to Kumar, investigators are yet to record the couple’s statements.
