Bangalore, November 10:  A barber was crushed to death by a train near Fraser Town.

The victim has been identified as K. Srinivas (46), from Hedge Nagar.

According to the Cantonment Railway police, on Friday, Srinivas may have sat on the railway track to relieve himself before boarding a train to Kuppam, his native town. He probably did not notice the train moving towards him in the darkness, the police said.

On Saturday morning, passersby found the mangled body on the tracks and informed the police. The ticket in his pants led the police to believe that his death was accidental, not a case of suicide.

The body has been sent to Bowring hospital for post-mortem.

Hurt in cylinder blast

Two brothers sustained severe burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion at their rented house in Girinagar on Saturday.

Raghunandan (35) and his brother Sriranga (32), both from Mysore, run a garments shop here.

According to the police, neighbours woke up to a loud noise around 6.30 a.m. and rushed out to see smoke billowing from the brothers’ house. They managed to put out the fire and rescue the two, and took them to Victoria hospital.

Doctors said Raghunandan sustained 20 per cent burns while Sriranga has third degree burns and is said to be critical.

Preliminary investigations by the Girinagar police have revealed that the men forgot to switch off the stove after preparing dinner. When Raghunandan switched on the kitchen lights in the morning, the spark triggered a blast.
