Bangalore, Nov 5, 2013, DHNS: As many as 3.46 lakh people have registered for the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s convention in Bangalore scheduled to be held at Palace Grounds on November 17.

The BJP is conducting two types of registration for the convention – one is online and another is selling coupons to the party workers.

While the coupon is priced at Rs 10, those who register online will have to pay Rs 10 at the venue of the convention by producing a copy of the online registration acknowledgement or the SMS confirmation.

BJP State president Pralhad Joshi told reporters in Bangalore on Thursday the registration is only for the party workers. Others who are interested in attending the convention can do so by directly reaching the venue. The BJP has so far booked eight trains and 1,000 buses to ferry workers to the convention, he said. BJP national president Rajnath Singh will preside over the event.

Two convention sites at Palace Grounds – Krishna Vihar and Tripura Vasini – which are adjoining each other are being merged to accommodate the large gathering. The barricades separating the two sites are being removed.

The BJP has set up an office at the convention site. Committees have been constituted for overseeing various activities like erecting the dais, preparation and distribution of food, transport facilities and security at the venue. Former deputy chief minister R Ashoka is overall incharge of the convention.

The party plans to instal 100 mammoth LCD TVs, 500 temporary toilets, seven kitchens at the convention venue. The party is planning to begin the convention at 11 am while Modi will deliver his speech at around 1 pm.
