Srikrishna

Chitradurga, Nov 5, 2013, DHNS : The dream of a young and talented engineer to establish his own enterprise remained just that with his death in the fatal bus accident in Mahabubnagar last week.

The mortal remains of Srikrishna (37), who was charred to death as the Hyderabad-bound bus of Jabbar Travels caught fire, are expected to reach his hometown Chitradurga by Wednesday morning.

Srikrishna, an electronics engineer, was working with a private firm in Hyderabad. Given his acumen and dexterity, he got an offer to set up his own firm with funding from private players. The proposal too was okayed and the project was in the final stage of approval. Srikrishna had come to Bangalore in this connection and was on his way to Hyderabad on that fateful day. However, destiny had a different design for him, and he perished in the accident, Nagappa, the 85-year-old father of Srikrishna said.

The body was charred to death beyond recognition, and Srikrishna’s wife too was unable to recognise it. A DNA test, the results of which came after almost four days, established the identity. Srikrishna was married for four years. His wife Rashmi Parvathi works as an engineer for Google in Hyderabad and the couple has a three-year-old daughter, Aadya. His was an inter-caste marriage against the wishes of his family, Nagappa said.

“Srikrishna was a bright student since his childhood. He studied in MES College and later pursued engineering from BMS College, Bangalore,” Nagappa recalled.

Nagappa, a retired employee of Khadi and Village Industries Commission said that Srikrishna, during his last visit, had spoken of celebrating his (Nagappa’s) 85th birthday in a grand manner. “It is my fate that I have to perform his last rites now,” the aged father said fighting back tears. He said Srikrishna was a god-fearing man and refused several opportunities to go abroad. Nagamma, the mother of Srikrishna, was too grief-stricken to speak. Nagappa said though he was aware of his son’s intelligence, he had no idea of his achievements.

“When I went to Hyderabad after the accident, several employees of the company he was working for were all praise for Srikrishna. They said his death was a loss to the company,” Nagappa said, adding that he was in a fix whether to mourn his son or to take pride in his achievements.

“Srikrishna always dreamt of setting up his own firm and providing jobs. He had done lot of research in this regard. He was in the process of finalising his dream project. His untimely death has shattered a dream, which if realised, could have created employment,” Srinath, a childhood friend of Srikrishna said.

The final rites will be performed at Venukalgudda in Hiriyur taluk, the native place of Srikrishna.
